As a graphic designer and art-lover books are always around me. In my home, in my car, in my office, even in my kitchen. I love to surround myself with beautiful things, with artworks and books. In each work, in each book there is a soul that speaks to me. For me it is my (little) library of happiness.
To know that I am just one book away from a big smile when I am sad is the most calming thought there is for me.

THIS IS ME, THIS IS MY BARN
With my creative studio and my own art-bookshop, my world is rarely quiet, and I love it!
Inspiration is everywhere. In every step on the street, at every museum visit or concert. In every visit to the thrift shop or every little thing hidden in daily routines. It triggers my brain; after all, the storyteller in me never sleeps. I am always creating ; humour, vice and COLOUR are my weapons to fillet any theme in the process.
Challenged by life more than once, I am allergic to ‘what goes’. I sail my own course, averse to what is considered right or prestigious and allow everyone the same freedom. Rules I don't impose on myself. Whatever your question, whatever project we shape together : one medium is not enough to reveal my concoctions. Precious metal, paper, objects trouvés or strings, ... each concept is like a GESAMTKUNSTWERK; in which I often interweave image and word into a sensual world in which anything goes.
It is who I am and how Pink Pony works, and logically therefore how I approach and experience this bookshop. It is an intuitive selection of books and magazines, works and graphic goodies, all of which expand my world and enrich my inspiration and imagination.
I have to admit that I choose these books on pure intuition. There is no common thread, except that I find my selection always falls back on my personal three pillars. Colour, vice and humor. These are my studio weapons to fillet any theme with at Pink Pony Cabinet; it are the pillars that guide my intuition here in the bookshop and are reflected throughout my private life. My home, my clothes, the way I joke around. I am a non-conformist, out-of-the-box thinking,colour, playfulness and humor is what I breathe.

Seriously not too serious
Is my best reminder that I carry with me on a small piece of paper in my pocket. although I am no pigeonhole thinker and freedom is my highest good I catch myself regularly getting bogged down in my own perfectionism.
It is then important for me to be able to stand still. That is why I often go into nature. My daily morning walks, seeing how the animals are enjoying themselves, the bollards turning green and the ground evolving from wet to dry make me realise that whatever you do professionally, whatever your dreams are They can and may be beautiful and ambitious, they are mostly relative.

Only the illustrations by Maira Kalman are enough to get me in trance. If she combines them with the most wonderfull oneliners and a story that goes straight to your heart, then you lost me in a good way.
Sara Bermans closet shows how a woman with a big heart for tactile stuff combines her strong personality with beauty in this rough world and the busy streets of New York.

What a bomb! This books is beyond beautiful. I discovered it when I was suffering from a narcistic relationship. I came across one of Orion's poems and her words immediately resonated in a way I felt in my whole body and soul.
She makes the brutal truth a little bit softer to combine that cruel truth with pictures that give you comfort.

There are no words needed. It's bold, it's colorfull. It's playfull and bursts of high-end glittery fashion. It is freedom, it is 'taking things not too serious' and serious business at the same time.
No book can describe my style better than the pictures bundled in this one.

Pony(play)bookshop contains one of my favorite categories in art.
The one that shows nudity, freedom and sexuality in the most pure and classfull way. No cheap p+rn, or in your face s+x.
The selection I make grows everyday, every hour. There are such talented artists in this niche who makes the most pure things I ever saw. Books that show a whole other point of view, a refreshing look at our daily reality in the mirror and some eyes wide shut awareness.
